Hi Ladies,

Let us first say thank you so much for attending our “Let’s Grow Girl” missions kick-off dinner a couple of weeks ago.  Your eagerness to help and generosity were overwhelming.  As promised, we were able to get more information on some of the topics we discussed.  We must tell you that when we went to meet with Monica at HAWC she told us no less than ten times how much they appreciate what we are doing for their organization.  God is going to use us in mighty ways, ladies!  We can’t wait to see what He has in store!

You gave $329.00 for the prayer bears at the dinner.  That will purchase 396 bears bringing our total to 576 bears.  Since they have about 900 – 1000 people come through their shelter annually, we’re half way there.  There were also 265 square pockets donated so we have enough supplies to finish 445 bears right now.  135 bears have been delivered to HAWC.

After three weeks we have collected 79 pairs of shoes (tennis and flip flops).  That is so amazing.  We asked if they had a limit and were told that they are always in need of shoes so keep them coming!  The shoes have been delivered to HAWC

We have 170 exposures of Polaroid film in hand after three weeks.  If you signed up to provide film, please have it to the Women’s Ministry office or in the receptacle by November 15.  They need it by November 29 so that will give us enough time to get it to them.

As far as volunteering for the hotline, they have a 36-hour training program with a $20.00 manual for those that want to work their hotlines.  The hotline volunteer hours are Monday – Friday 9:00 – 8:00 and Saturday 9:00 – 4:00.  No late nights.  They are willing to come to us for the training so if you signed up, we will be emailing you with possible training schedules and we as a group can decide what will work best for us.

We also got information on volunteering on-site.  There will be many opportunities over the next couple of months to help them prepare for Christmas.  As those dates firm up, we’ll post them for you to have.

We discussed gift cards for teen gifts also.  We were able to get from HAWC what they consider big and small gifts so we will be posting them on our website in case you’d rather buy a gift or two instead of the gift card.

Again, we are so excited about what God will do through us at HAWC.  After the dinner we were so touched by all of you who came up to us and told us you had been looking for a place to help and we really think God has given us a great organization to “Reach People and Change Lives.”
